The Weekend Off
September 8, 2006 at 8:25 pm (Uncategorized)
I so needed to come home today and sit around and do absolutely nothing. It feels good. I touched base with my girlfriend Michelle, I cleaned out my file cabinet of all those useless articles I have saved over the years. It was a very good thing. I think we will go out for fish fry tonight and possibly out in our canoe. Tomorrow night, we are going to go up to Niagara to meet up with Rhonda and her hubby. It is her birthday this weekend but we aren’t supposed to act like we really know. We do!
For the shopping gals out there- Mary Engelbright’s cutsie magazine (I get it for free) has an Asian girl for this month’s paper dolls. They are pretty cute. I almost ripped my girl in half. getting them out of the magazine.

Goodbye Steve Irwin. We will be thinking about you tonight. Thank you for your contributions to the animal world. You will be missed!
Cold
September 3, 2006 at 7:45 pm (Uncategorized)

It is cold out now. I go through periods of Spring and Fall cleaning. School is starting back up and so I want to get things ready for the hammering of snow. We are new to the East. We are used to rock gardens, zeroscaping, and not watering our lawn. Now, we have tools to use- snowblowers, shovels, salt, and chains. It is a new world!
So, I have this idea. I want to go from one end of the house to the other and steam clean the carpet. It isn’t really dirty yet. It is going to get dirty in the winter. But, just before we freeze our tushes off, I think we need to do this. I want to wash all the curtains and seal up all the windows. The cats have this great hallway which is wall-to-wall windows. It needs some sealing.
I will soon need to close all the windows in the front porch. That room is usually off limits in the winter months because no one wants to be on a sun porch when they run the risk of freezing to death. But, it is a great place for snow shoes and dirty clothing (we keep sweats out there just in case we need to strip).
The cats hate going out in the winter. They only want to stay in during the snow months. This means- more fighting, more litter box cleaning, and generally, a more crowded house. But it feels good to have two or three cats curled on the bed at night. I am fine with that as long as they don’t get too pissed when I roll over and squish one.
Tim hates the winter. He gets very blue when it is cold out. Tim likes places where you can wear shorts and birkenstocks every day. He isnt a fan of living here but he is being really good about it.
I end this post with a little description of the photos. These are Maui’s new kittens. They are very cute. There are two skinny black ones (one of which is very outgoing). There are three white and black kittens (one of which is obese and very cute, another is very scared and shakes when you hold him). Maui just had a litter two months or so ago. As soon as they were weaned, I brought Maui in to get her fixed (we assumed previously that all cats come fixed- they don’t). So, Maui went in to get fixed and she was already pregnant with these guys. Since we went to a Christian vet who doesn’t believe in kitty abortion, we got stuck. Maui is trapped inside right now and she WILL get fixed this week.
Anyone want a kitten?

Little Humor
August 28, 2006 at 7:11 pm (Uncategorized)

Okay, I think we all need a little humor in the week. I am a big Star Trek nerd. Don’t ask. These are a few of my favorite YTMNDs.
What is a YTMND? It is an initialism for “You’re The Man Now Dog!”, is a website community that is centered around the creation of hosted web pages featuring a juxtaposition of a single image or a simple slideshow, which can be animated and/or tiled, along with optional large zooming text, and a looping sound file. Most of these images are created or edited by users. Most YTMNDs are meant to expose or reflect the more inane facets of pop culture.
Tell me if you find any good ones.

Referrals – August
August 25, 2006 at 5:33 am (Uncategorized)

So, referrals were given out to folks up to July 22nd, 2005. Congrats to all those families who are finding out about their babies this week and next. I have a feeling that since all agencies were caught off guard, the pictures might be slow to post.
What does that mean for us? If we go by a guestimate, that we will have an Aug 30, 2006 LID (hoping for better but this might be it), Then we are 399 days from referral. Considering that this month, they did 9 days of LIDS, we are completely screwed. We seem to have enough time to run for President and still wait for this kid. We keep hearing “Oh, it will speed up.” But guess what? It hasn’t.
Anyone else feeling funky about this today?
